BBBC Final Day:
I can’t believe that I’ve posted every single day for a week. As many of you know, my blog often goes without a new topic for a week or more, and being able to write something new, not always SL related, but new, every single day for a week has been a great challenge. If I want to really be a reporter, I need to be able to find stories and ideas that will garner readers every day or write more than a few times per day. When I started on this challenge, it was partially a personal “Lets see if I can do this” and partially a try to gain more readers. It seems like in both areas, I’ve suceeded. A full week of new posts, maybe not always interesting, but different, maybe not always long, but something in writing. I feel pretty fufilled, and would love to do another challenge in the future. Being able to put my blog in the same ranks as many MG bloggers makes me quite happy, and I’m always glad to share my insights on the world from a teenage window. Thanks to Alicia to the challenge, and the other participants for keeping it interesting. Who knows, maybe I’ll put out more posts after this!

Story character:
Name: Anvius Lavel
Occupation: Good-for-nothing layabout/Powerful wizard
Heritage: One of the last surviving members of an extraordinary magical linage
Description: A tall, gaunt, olive skinned man with shoulder length stringy greying hair, about 54 years of age, usually dressed rather sloppily in old rock band teeshirts and jeans. Typically unshaven and doesn’t shower often enough, he looks slightly homeless – people have been known to thrust money into his hand if he’s resting on a bench.
Bio: The Lavel family is a branch of an ancient order of magicians dating back to medieval times, thriving by keeping their blood pure and untainted by the non-magical for centuries. Unfortunately, what once worked no longer does, and nearly all magical lines are dieing out. Anvius is one the last remaining members of his own bloodline. He grew up in a time when the magical community was integrating into teh non-magical, and half-breed children were becoming common. Because of this, his parents kept all of their children away from the magical schools, which were starting to accept the half-breeds for training. Instead, all Lavel children were homeschooled and brought up with an attitude of disdain towards those who mixed their blood. Only Anvius and his youngest brother Erik really accepted the philosophy. Erik disappeared when he was 19, and only occasional reports of him have come in since then, sightings in countries as far off as West Africa and Romania. After his parents died, Anvius, as the eldest son, inherited their home and the majority of their enormus fortune, with a small amount going to his younger siblings, most of whom no longer associated with the family after marrying outsiders.
Anvius has become a bitter, apathetic layabout with no real goals in life, living as a shut in. He shuns both the magical and non-magical communities, refusng to help anyone but himself. He has a huge ego, and spends most of his time studying history and writing a blog on why the magical community should have taken over and ruled the non-magical when it was stronger, instead of helping and protecting them. Though he seems dark, Anvius is neutral – he dislikes everyone equally, and just doesn’t care anymore.

Shopping Cart Disco recently posted a challenge to bloggers: Empty out your bag, and take a picture of the contents. Though it’s not exactly a TG-related topic like I usually do, I couldn’t resist doing this. The first question was which bag to empty. I have two: my work bag, and my schoolbag. The work bag is a little too boring, so I went with the schoolbag. Read the rest of this entry »
